Lori Sperier (b. 1969) is a New Orleans-based artist born in Lafayette, Louisiana. She holds a BFA1994 Graphic Design and Painting  from Louisiana State University.

Sperier is represented by residential and corporate designers in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Florida, her work is in public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.

She currently resides and works out of her studio in Covington outside of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Artist Statement  

I have grown up with an appreciation for art. My mother is an artist and as a young child I would watch her paint. She remembers on family beach trips I would draw in the sand for hours and knew one day that I would become an artist. Now my appreciation has turned into my passion and career that I love.

Inspired by the legacies of abstract expressionist (Georgia O’Keefe), French Post-Impressionist (Paul Gaugain), Italian portrait painter (Amedeo Modigliani) and Austrian symbolist painter (Gustav Klimt). I am also continually inspired by environment & rhythms of nature, my work explores abstracts, abstract landscapes and figure work, communicating in a ethereal refined manner, creating glowing illumination of color and use of variety of texture giving pieces dimension.

Depending on what I am working on decides my mindset. For my figure work the process is more precise, for my abstracts and landscapes blending, layering of colors and the use of texture is a big proponent of my process.  

The end result is to build work creating a blend of ethereal with sublime.
